Oxford County Scenic & Social Getaway
3 days/2 nights
Oxford County has it all: wide-open farmland, rolling tree-lined roads and the most courteous motorists we’ve ever met! On our Scenic & Social Getaway, you’ll discover every aspect of this hidden gem – riding 65-85 km per day at an average speed of 20-24 km/h. Along the way, we’ll treat you to some of the best views of the surrounding landscape, along with some tasty treats from local vendors. Our rides start and finish at the renowned Elm Hurst Inn & Spa – where a delicious dinner, a luxurious bed and perhaps even an optional massage will help you recover nicely for the next morning’s ride.

Wide Open Gravel for the Taking
Is the sky bigger in Oxford County? It sure seems that way. Many of our gravel rides here roll across sprawling pastoral farmland, where the road ribbons ahead of you for miles, while long stands of trees help buffer the wind.
As the summer progresses, the corn grows taller, then gives way to stunning fall colour as we turn onto forested riverside tracks and rail trails. Roadside fruit stands tempt us and every village seems to offer up mid-ride treats from a legendary local bakery.
Our Scenic & Social Getaway takes us through it all at a friendly pace. One ride might lead south into Amish country for some authentic Dutch pastries. Another might take us north to a tiny village for some locally-renowned coffee. And no cycling tour here is complete without a trek through the woods that line the Thames River. On this getaway, there's always time to stop and enjoy the view.
After a day of escape and exploration, you’ll check into the luxurious and historic Elmhurst Inn & Spa. There, you're free to relax in the shade of the willows, satisfy your appetite with five-star locally-inspired cuisine and curl up in a cozy bed to rest up for the next day's ride.
Where you'll be staying
The historic Elm Hurst Inn & Spa is the finest luxury hotel in Southwestern Ontario. A landmark since 1872, the Inn sits on 30 acres of rolling countryside, offering decadent dining and indulgent spa services. After a day of gravel grinding, cyclists can relax with a massage or just recline on the expansive patio overlooking the creek down below.
Between the spa’s extensive menu of services and the Muskoka chairs that beckon from the shade of the surrounding trees, non-cycling companions will have no trouble passing the time on site until our group returns from the morning ride.

You mean we didn’t have you at “spa?” How about exploring the variety of renowned cheese makers for which Oxford County is famous? Wander into Ingersoll and enjoy the food and curio shops on its main street. Drive south through Amish country with farm stands stops along the way. Trace the County’s Underground Railroad history in Otterville, or head north for a swim in the gorge near St. Mary’s.
Stratford is a little more than a half-hour drive away - whether you’re going to the theatre or just going for a stroll. Both Stratford and Oxford County offer self-guided tours featuring boutique purveyors of fine soaps, candles, chocolate and olive oil.
Please Note: Gravelocity’s tours run rain or shine. That said, we reserve the right to alter routes, distances or start times to avoid the worst of what Mother Nature (or the local gravel graders) may throw at us. On the rare occasion that a day’s bike ride is cancelled altogether, we’ll welcome you back on any other day - at any location - to make up for it.
