Oxford County Gravel Gals Getaway
September 9-10, 2023
Build skills and experience as you ride along Amish country roads, with plenty of enthusiastic encouragement. Everything on this Gravel Gals Getaway is geared towards helping you learn how to ride gravel with confidence. We’ll ride 55-75 km per day at an average speed of 18-22 km/h, with tips to improve your bike handling, power output and endurance. Along the way, you’ll be treated to some of the best views of the surrounding landscape and a few tasty treats from local vendors. Our rides start and finish at the renowned Elm Hurst Inn & Spa – where a delicious dinner, a luxurious bed and maybe even an optional massage will help you recover nicely for the next morning’s ride. Open to all cyclists who identify as women.

Wide Open Gravel for the Taking
Is the sky bigger in Oxford County? It sure seems that way. Many of our gravel rides here roll across sprawling pastoral farmland, where the road ribbons ahead of you for miles, while long stands of trees help buffer the wind.
As the summer progresses, the corn grows taller - then gives way to stunning fall colour as we turn onto forested riverside tracks and rail trails. Amish fruit stands tempt cyclists from the roadside and every village seems to offer up mid-ride treats from a legendary local bakery or cafe.
Many of our routes here pass through Woodstock - home to a variety of bike paths and double-track trails that run through the woods and along an enormous reservoir.
After a few hours learning how to ride gravel better, you’ll check into the luxurious and historic Elmhurst Inn & Spa. There, you're free to relax in the shade of the willows, satisfy your appetite with five-star locally-inspired cuisine and curl up in a cozy bed for the next day's ride.
Where you'll stay
The historic Elm Hurst Inn & Spa is the finest luxury hotel in Southwestern Ontario. A landmark since 1872, the Inn sits on 30 acres of rolling countryside, offering decadent dining and indulgent spa services. After a day of gravel grinding, cyclists can relax with a massage or just recline on the expansive patio overlooking the creek down below.
Between the spa’s extensive menu of services and the Muskoka chairs that beckon from the shade of the surrounding trees, non-cycling companions will have no trouble passing the time on site until our group returns from the morning ride.

You mean we didn’t have you at “spa?” How about exploring the variety of renowned cheese makers for which Oxford County is famous? Wander into Ingersoll and enjoy the food and curio shops on its main street. Trace the County’s Underground Railroad history in Otterville, or head north for a swim in the gorge near St. Mary’s.
Stratford is a little more than a half-hour away - whether you’re going to the theatre
or just going for a stroll. Stratford also offers its year round Chocolate Trail, a self guided tour of local eateries and shops featuring chocolate in many different forms, including beer, tea, bath salts, wine, bars, cheese, ice cream and even olive oil!
Please Note: Gravelocity’s tours run rain or shine. That said, we reserve the right to alter routes, distances or start times to avoid the worst of what Mother Nature (or the local gravel graders) may throw at us. On the rare occasion that a day’s bike ride is cancelled altogether, we’ll welcome you back on any other day - at any location - to make up for it.
