“Give Gravel A Go”
Saturday, July 9, 2022
For women only
Are you gravel-curious? Eager to make friends? This is the ride for you!
We’ll meet up at the Breadalbane Inn in Fergus at 9:30 a.m., then roll out by 10 a.m. for a 45 km ride at a pace of 16-20 km/h. Along the way, our ride captain will share tips and techniques to build your gravel cycling skills and confidence. Mid-ride, we’ll indulge in some decadent pastries, then return for a post-ride lunch, enjoying good company and great food.
This ride is designed for cyclists who are comfortable riding for a couple of hours at a time on paved surfaces or mountain bike trails. Open to all those who identify as women.
Presented in cooperation with See What She Can Do – your neighbourhood hub for active women.
Please reserve your spot by Monday, July 4.
On this introductory ride, we'll alternate between the Elora-Cataract Trail and a variety of quiet gravel roads in the area. This is a social ride, with regular photo stops and a mid-ride bakery break - all geared toward building skills and confidence on gravel.
While you'll be most comfortable on a gravel bike, you can also join us on a mountain bike (with smoother tires or a higher pressure) or even on a road bike with tires that are 28mm or larger.
Where you'll be dining
Our post-ride lunch will take place at the Breadalbane Inn, located in the heart of the quaint town of Fergus - with a delicious array of sandwiches and light meals. Save time afterwards for a stroll along the main street - or a visit to the sister town of Elora, with spectacular views of the nearby gorge.
